My name is Dr. Dan Reiffenberger. I am a Family Physician, Board certified in Sports Medicine as well. I am here to help you get motivated to perform exercise, and to answer any questions you may have about exercise, health, and wellness.
Bio: Dr. Dan is the Brown Clinic’s Chief Medical Officer. He received his education at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1986. He attended the University of South Dakota Medical School in Sioux Falls, completing his medical degree in 1991. His medical education continued through his internship and residency at the Sioux Falls Family Practice Center, finishing in 1994. Dr. Reiffenberger is board-certified with the American Board of Family Practice and also has a Certificate of Added Qualification (Board Certification) in Sports Medicine.
He and his wife, Dr. Sarah Reiffenberger, are avid runners. They participate in competition when their busy work life and their children allow time.
Dr. Dan focuses his blog posts on activity, ways to engage family and friends in activity, motivation, and healthy living. He also leads our 12 week wellness program. Over 16 years ago Dr. Dan wrote a grant for the American College of Sports Medicine in regards of development of a fitness program entitled Strive to Survive. The STRIVE represents “Securing Time for Regular Involvement in a Variety of Exercise”. Since that time, it has become our Brown Clinic Wellness Program, with modifications and improvements along the way.
I am Kelsey (Likness) Raml, a Registered Dietitian and Licensed Nutritionist. I am passionate about nutrition and the ways proper nutrition can make a positive impact in your health and lifestyle. I enjoy many forms of exercise… jogging, biking, and riding horse are a few of my favorites! I am here to serve as your nutrition expert and will be here to help you get motivated to eat healthy and choose foods to fuel your body! I am also here to answer any questions you may have about food and nutrition, health and wellness.
Bio: Kelsey A. Raml, MS, RD, LN earned her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Food Science with a specialization in Dietetics from South Dakota State University in 2007. She went on to receive her Master of Science Degree in Nutritional Sciences from SDSU in 2009 and started at Brown Clinic in the summer of 2009. She completed her Dietetic Internship at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine and Center for Disabilities in Sioux Falls. Kelsey lives with her husband Adam outside of Watertown.
Kelsey’s blog posts are focused on nutrition and healthy living. She also leads the nutrition and assessment components of our 12 week wellness program.

Jon M. McAreavey, MD began his career at Brown Clinic in 2004. His post graduate training was completed at the University of SD School of Medicine. His internship and residency were both done at Sioux Falls Family Medicine Center in Sioux Falls, SD.
Dr. McAreavey is licensed with the State of South Dakota and he is certified by the American Board of Family Practice. Dr. McAreavey resides in Watertown with his wife, two sons and daughter. Dr. Jon leads one our wellness talks in our 12 week program that focuses on his own personal journey to health and wellness and discusses the medical side of diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and heart disease.
Dr. Clark W. Likness began his career at the Brown Clinic in 1981. His post graduate training was completed at the University of SD School of Medicine, followed by completion of his family medicine residency at Sioux Falls Family Medicine Center in 1981. He also received his Masters in Medical Administration from Tulane University in 1997. He has maintained his ties with the USD School of Medicine through a teaching appointment as a Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. Dr. Likness is board-certified with the American Board of Family Practice. In addition to practicing family medicine, Dr. Likness served as the medical director of the clinic for the last 17 years.
His personal recreation includes time spent with his family. He and his wife, Gerry, have three children, Lincoln, Micah, and Kelsey. He enjoys spending time with his children and grandkids, spending time outdoors, and is involved in numerous community activities.
Dr. Likness leads one of our wellness talks in our 12 week program that focuses on all aspects of wellness (ie- physical, mental, spiritual, etc) and how each facet contributes to health and wellness.
Deidra J. Van Gilder, PharmD earned both her Bachelor and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from South Dakota State University. She is a Board Certified Licensed Pharmacist and Certified Immunization Pharmacist. Deidra is also an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice for SDSU and is a member of the South Dakota Pharmacist Association.
Deidra joined Brown Clinic in 2002 and resides in Watertown with her husband, son, and daughter.
